reThink Food: How your diet changes your thoughts

I had a great experience sharing our findings on brain nutrition at the annual reThink Food conference sponsored by the Culinary Institute of America in partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Thank you for having me.

Save Your Brain with Food

Very honored that our interview on brain nutrition made the cover page. Drawing on swiftly evolving insights into how the brain ages, scientists bet that memory loss can be not only delayed but, at least in its early stages, stopped in its tracks. And the critical tools turn out to be appetizingly low-tech. Read more here.

Reflection: Technology makes a difference

Years ago, I had the privilege of designing and developing the so-called HipMask software with my former colleagues at NYU. That was quite an experience. Our program is now being routinely used by the Alzheimer's disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) to sample hippocampal metabolism on thousands on brain scans, to support the early diagnosis of Alzheimer's in people at risk.

The 10k Calorie Challenge documentary

Honored to be interviewed for a documentary film from NYU Tisch documenting a young woman attempt the "10K Challenge." This doesn't relate to someone running a 10k, however, but instead consists of a healthy and active person consuming 10,000 calories in a 24 hour period.  This "challenge" is very prominent in the bodybuilder and weightlifting community. Looking at the 10k through a scientific lens, the director Mar-Walker Rippe explores the effects of an uncharacteristic surplus of nutrients on human behavior.

"Food for Thought" lecture at MIT

Dr. Mosconi's gives an inspiring talk at the Advancing Wellness Series at the Massachussets Institute of Technology (MIT) Media Lab. This lecture focused on the role of nature (genes) vs. nurture (lifestyle), and on biochemical individuality, as dementia-risk modulators, with an emphasis on brain imaging findings in the preclinical phase of AD. Such knowledge is critical prior to implementing lifestyle and dietary recommendations for prevention and treatment of disease. Watch her talk on Nutritional Medicine and bio-individuality in the prevention of Alzheimer's here

Bread Head Documentary

So honored to participate in the Bread Head documentary, a new film that explores the impact of our diets and lifestyles on brain health. With no known cure for Alzheimer's, accomplished filmmaker Max Lugavere is raising awareness about prevention.
